# 2247  League Awards Announced for 2010

The league awards have finally been released and 316 awards have been given to the players in Section Five so far this year. (The AGR list will come out within a month). 65 Finger Lakes players received 69 awards, 23 GRALL players received 31 awards and Penn Yan, who is independent had 4 players receiving All Tournament awards. In the Monroe County League 69 players in Division I received 82 awards, 71 players in Division II received 84 awards and 46 players in Division III each received an award.

The All Star list is out recognizing the Finger Lakes League players for the 2010 season. Senior midfielder Tyler Brooks-Lambert (Midlakes) and senior defenseman Mike Warner (Geneva) were selected as USLacrosse All Americans.

There were ten out bracket games played in the Section today and only one team that beat a higher seeded team. In the Class A bracket, Hilton (#9) beat Gates Chili (#8) and will play Fairport. Churchville-Chili be the Lightning and moves on to Pittsford.

There were two game played on Wednesday. Marcus Whitman celebrated senior night with a 10-5 victory over visiting Newark. Aquinas traveled to Buffalo and beat Bishop Timon 11-7.

# 2209  Tuesday: Penfield and Aquinas both win one goal games

The 'Lil Irish came back, late in the fourth quarter to force overtime where they defeated Haverling-Haverling in overtime this afternoon at Aquinas. Penfield held off a fired-up Rush-Henrietta and won their game 13-12 in regulation.

# 2207  Saturday: Pittsford, Fairport and Marcus Whitman win today

Pittsford played a close game with Brighton for a while, but took control in the fourth quarter and won 13-8 in the cold a windy late afternoon as Pittsford celebrated lacrosse with an all day lacrosse event at Mendon. Brighton was the last undefeated team in Section Five.

After 30 straight wins, Canandaigua lost in a close game to Webster Thomas, 11-10 this afternoon. The Titans overcame a 5-4 halftime score with a strong third quarter and determination in the last quarter with the winning goal by TJ Hauck with twenty-five second left the regulation.

One goal in the third and an extra one in the fourth quarter gave Batavia all they needed in a low scoring 5-3 win against host Newark this afternoon.

# 2199  Tuesday: Eastridge wins in Double Overtime

There were fifteen games played today in Section Five, a couple of close ones but mostly mismatches. Eastridge won their first game of the season using double overtime to defeat the Thunder 11-10. East Rochester beat Newark 8-7. All the other games were won by six goals.

There were fourteen games in the section today and more were played under dark or rainy conditions. Webster Schroeder won an 8-6 victory over Churchville-Chili while Fairport stunned Irondequoit (13-4) and Canandaigua beat Penfield (19-6).
